RC Retaining Walls

RC Retaining walls are built to hold back ground and stabilise slopes. They provide useful areas at different levels, such as for a terrace, basement or new building. As piling and groundwork experts we install reinforced concrete walls when there is no access restriction to the site and an area can be safely excavated. Otherwise we install contiguous piled walls.

Basement projects invariably involve excavation and the construction of load bearing retaining walls. The structural calculation will take into account the vertical load and the horizontal pressure from the retained soil. We will advise and quote for the solution most appropriate to the requirements of the project. Building projects involving retaining walls have the same considerations.

What are the different types of RC retaining wall?

  • RC Retaining Walls
  • Piling Retaining Walls
  • Gravity Retaining Walls
  • Cantilever Retaining Walls
  • Anchored Retaining Walls

Simpile’s construction of retaining walls is carefully considered, designed and constructed. We take into account the tendency of the retained material to move down the slope because of gravity, which creates lateral earth pressures, and we look into proper drainage which will eliminate hydrostatic pressure on the walls.

Our retaining walls are designed to ensure stability against overturning, excessive foundation pressures, sliding and water uplift.
